Z3 DIY Repairs Day

Bob Cookson has offered up his driveway and his tools to host a Z3 Do-It-Yourself Repairs Day on May 15th to fix some of those pesky things that all Z3 owners have to deal with at some point. Like:

  • Sagging glove box
  • How to add bluetooth stereo head units
  • Valve cover gasket with coils and plugs
  • Rear shocks and shock mounts
  • Your suggestion - discuss it with Bob

You may even be able to talk Bob into helping with your seat bushings. (He hosted a Z3 DIY Day on April 3rd but it happened too quickly for me to get the word out. The good news is that Bob is doing this one in a few weeks.)

If you are interested in participating, please contact Bob Cookson directly and let him know what you'd like to tackle on your Z3. He can provide you with the details you need.

Wildcat in Ball Ground

Alycia and I are planning a drive from Roswell to Ball Ground, Saturday, May 29. Our destination is Wildcat on a Wing (about a mile north of downtown Ball Ground on Canton Hwy/Hwy 372). We'll spend about 2 and half hours exploring Wildcat's art gallery/winery and/or downtown Ball Ground. For lunch, either grab a bite to eat from the BBQ food truck at Wildcat or head into downtown Ball Ground where you'll find a number of excellent eateries to choose from.

After that, we'll regroup and do a little more driving on some of the great roads in and around that area.

If you are interested, please email russ@atlantaz3.com to let us know you plan to attend.

CANCELLED Z3/Z4 DIY Repairs Day #3 CANCELLED

Due to family emergency, Bob had to cancel this DIY Day. We'll schedule another one soon!

Do you have any projects that you've been putting off with regards to your Z? Z3 seat bushings? Z3 glove box sag? Z3/Z4 Shocks/Struts. Z3/Z4 brakes/rotors? Other?

Bob Cookson is passionate and resourceful and he truly LOVES helping us make these things happen. In fact, he has scheduled his 3rd 2021 Z3/Z4 DIY Repairs Day for July 24; hosted again at his home in Alpharetta. Anyone interested in doing some hands-on driveway mechanical work on their Z should contact Bob (sooner than later) to work out what you need done and what parts/tools you'll need.

If you are interested in participating, please contact Bob Cookson directly and let him know what you'd like to tackle on your Z. He can provide you with the details you need.

CANCELLED Atlanta Z3/Z4 DIY Repairs Day CANCELLED

Bob Cookson has once again offered up his driveway, his tools, and his knowledge of all things Z to host a Z3/Z4 Do-It-Yourself Repairs Day to fix some of those pesky things that all Z3/Z4 owners have to deal with at some point. Bob says,:

OK, I'm going to try to make this event more flexible to fit more people's needs. Every car that comes to the event will get the convertible top drain holes cleaned. That should eliminate some water leakage behind seats (it may not solve everything) and avoid that problem for others.

If you want to fix a saggy glove box and trunk struts can bring them and expect to get them done all the same day. All of the parts are available from BimmerBum. I ordered LRNJ51458397597 from Amazon for the glove box. The trunk struts are cheaper at Amazon as well (same brand).

We can work on other projects as well including 1) rear shocks and mounts, 2) bluetooth head unit, 3) valve cover gasket with coils and plugs, 4) seat bushings, 5) front struts and mounts, 6) other suspension items, 7) sensors, :-) whatever you suggest and we agree to do. I highly recommend that you purchase reinforced or upgraded shock mounts if you want to do your struts or shocks. I also recommend NGK Iridium plugs and Bosch coils. If you want an old school style head unit, search for the VDO Continental unit or if you want bluetooth/carplay/android, check out the Dual XDVD770BT. Purchase the installation accessories. Reach out to me if you have questions.

Of course, we may have to reduce how much we do for each car based on how many folks attend. We will be dependent on the weather [so, if the weather is iffy in Alpharetta, you might want to call before making the trek]. If you need to reach me for any reason, my cell is 770.354.4425.

If you are interested in participating, please contact Bob Cookson directly and let him know what you'd like to tackle on your Z3 or Z4. He can provide you with the details you need.

Atlanta Z3/Z4 DIY Repairs Day

This event is weather dependent, so if it gets cancelled, I will do my best to get the word out faster than I did the last time. Again, sorry for the late notice on the last one. When in doubt, call Bob.

At this DIY clinic, Bob plans to demonstrate, with our help, how to do a complete cooling system refresh on his Dakar Yellow 2000 M Roadster. He wants to video the process including mechanical fan delete and new motor mounts.

He says there should be plenty of time to tackle at least some of your projects as well depending on the turnout. So, call Bob ahead of time to agree on what needs to be done.

Whether it is rear shocks and mounts, Bluetooth head unit installation, valve cover gaskets with coils and plugs, Z3 seat bushings, front struts and mounts, other suspension items, or sensors, Bob can help.

Please email or call Bob letting him know that you'll be there and what you'd like to accomplish.
